Engine Oil Residue on the two trailing arms

I went under the car today to check why oil residue always apear on my driveway.

I found out that there was oil on the two trailing arm, the one near the downpipe, and it was covered in dust with oil. I have to take a whole bunch of paper towel to clean out the oil under the car.

Where is the oil coming from? I can't seem to find it.

Please help, the car seems to run fine and powerfull, I just can't figure out where oil is dripping...

Check that your oil filter and drain plug is on tight.
Was the oil recently changed? It could be residue that is dripping from a sloppy oil change and blowing around the underside of the car.

I checked and the plug is tight and the oil filter is the same. I change my own oil and filter.

I can see oil near the transfer case, and starter.

If there is oil on the starter, then it's probably your oil return line from the turbo.

To be honest I have the same problem in that you can see the right hand arm has a oil film with dirt stuck to it. There isn't so much oil as to make a mess elsewhere under the car or on the ground. At ~2000 miles the oil level started dropping with no obvious sign that the engine was consuming the oil.

To date I have not been able to locate where the oil is coming from. It clearly isn't the drain plug or filter. I'm the only person that works on the car and I have never found any residue on or around these parts.

Someone stated that the turbo oil return line might be the cause. When I was last under the car there wasn't a leak at the pan and there didn't seem to be anything on the line. I guess I will look again given the comment about finding oil on the intercooler hose.

I would be very interested if people can report where they found oil leaks on their engine.

i had a very similar problem and it turned out to be my rear main seal was going bad. I would have it checked out if i were you. Dont take it to some dumb mechanic either. I would try to go to turbo trix or somewhere with similar expertise.
