manifold questions

Is it true that cast iron is the only type of manifold to get if you were to replace it because anything else will crack? Is the stock manifold made of cast iron?

The stock manifold is a robust cast iron piece.

As far as anything else cracking, stainless tubular manifolds are much less sturdy piece in general, and most are made of 304 stainless, which will not take as much heat as a better allow, such as 321. While the longevity of some 304 pieces may be pretty good, one should consider the prospect of needing a replacement at some point in time.

The best type of manifold for the EVO would probably be a heavy gauge 321 stainless tubular type with equal length runners...something that will maximize exhaust pulse energy and retain sufficient heat without cracking.

The only ones I consciously recall seeing in 321 ss are from Vishnu and RnR, but they are intended for use with bigger turbos (won't fit stock EVO turbo).

We can make them for the stock turbo. Yes, we use 8 gauge 321 low carbon stainless steel. Guaranteed not to crack and come with a lifetime warranty.
