Oil pressure sensor in that part of the pan? Would it show any relevant numbers?

Sorry, I didn't mean the actual sensor location, in general it would be much better to have a pressure instead of a temp gauge.

Well, the other day I started on it, but yestrerday I decided to change ther HU as well. Anyway, my installer decided he did not have time to upgrade my HU, so he just swapped the gauges & radio locations. They look good, but I sure would like the lights to be red or orange. I want them to match the dashboard lights. Also, I notice that the gauge lights do not dim !?! What's up with that?

I've been considering doing this. Does the shifter get in the way of the radio especially when changing out CDs?

Heahl - No, the radio is in a great spot down there. It becomes so natural that I even reach for the lower spot when I drive other cars! =)

As for anyone else interested, I have a Black Faced Factory Gauge Setup that I NEVER installed. Lower DIN mount, gauges, everything. MSRP is $464, plus the DIN holder ($60).

I'd take $400 shipped.

The lights for everything in the console do not dim, but with red lighting, you don't need to dim it.

The red lighting kit for the clock, climate control and radio can be had from a forum user: Z_Lancer_Man. PM him. Don't overdo the number of sheets (2-3 works) for the clock and radio or they will be too dim.

As for those gauges, I figured that one out on my own. You will need two VDO red diffuser packs from www.egauges.com:

http://www.egauges.com/vdo_acce.asp?...Type_E/C&Cart=

(include the "=" for the link to work.

Qty Part No Name Price Total
--- ------- ------------------------------------------------ ----- -----
1 600-853 Red Diffusers for Type A, 9/32 inch bulb, 4 pack $2.96 $2.96
1 600-859 Red Diffusers for Type D, peanut bulb, 4 pack $3.01 $3.01

What you do here is remove the climate control bezel (remove the 3 knobs and 2 screws, then pull it off), unscrew the 4 screws that hold the DIN gauge harness. Carefully unclip the small wiring harness from each gauge and unplug the vacuum hose from the boost gauge. Gently remove the rubber bulb plug from the gauges and use a pair of needle nose pliers to carefully twist each bulb socket from the rear of each gauge. Install a small red diffuser on each bulb, then install a larger one over the small one. Carefully install each bulb such as not to let the larger diffuser slip off. You must use both diffusers, as one diffuser causes the gauges to be bright pink. With two diffusers, the gauges will match the climate control, clock, lighter, etc. *perfectly*. You won't believe how well it matches - looks like it came that way.

Ok i got my stuff in last night. I put one of each of the 2 caps over them and light em up.
For some reason the boost gauge looks darker....in your pics it looks this way too.
I think its cause the bulbs is a lil different because before I put these on I was running the 3 pack gauges with the stock caps ripped off. The boost gauge was not as bright before....and its not as bright now with the red caps.

Maybe If we only use 1 cap on the boost with 2 on the oil temp/ volts.....then they will match perfect.

What do you think Ted?

FWIW, I initially used one cap with all three initially, and the result was a brighter pink color on all three. This is why I scratched my head and went to two diffusers. If the boost gauge appears a bit darker, that's a characteristic of the design, but both diffusers are needed to get the color right.

I ordered the stuff today. Thanks for the info, I'll change those light colors asap. I actually hate the way those look now, IMHO should have made all the lights the same red color. I'll post pictures after the gauges change colors...
