Does anyone know what the average temp the oil gauge should be reading in an evo 9 MR with normal to moderate driving?Ive been getting an average of 70-80 F.
I can't remeber what the temps were b4 I installed some new parts.Any help would be great!

^np. i have gotten used to converting all themetric to imperial stuff...

100°C = 212°F

1 bar = 14.7psi

 

mostly 200 to 220 F here.. The weather is very hot here..

i get anywhere from 190- 220F under normal driving
180-190 a night and 220 sitting in traffic during the the hot day

 

mine reads 180F, hot traffic around 200. F=9/5C +32
Of course I have an upgraded summit racing oil cooler too.

 

That's why a good synthetic oil is important...low viscosity breakdown

 

Mine at idle is about 180. 200 when driving normal and the most I have seen is 220 on the highway beating on it. Thats pretty low compared to the BMWs I drive at work. N/A engines with no cooler and the oil temp gauge reads 220F at idle. The manual says its ok till 300F.

Mine was reading around 150-160 F. at highway speeds, and 170-180 in town. It was 85 outside. Running royal purple oil, purple ice, and a radiator diversion panel.

 

For the oil to be doing its protecting and burning off the acids and moisture from cold starts,oil needs to be 20 to 30 degrees hotter than the coolant.
