help with tt

ok i just installed my apexi tt with the harness according to the directions found on this board. the problem is that the tt will not turn on whatsoever... could this be a defective timer or did i do something wrong during the installation?

(method used was opening the steering wheel panel, unplugging the current electrical wire plugs and reconnecting the harness.)

any comments or help would be appreciated.

Richard.

I don't know about the Apexi because I have an HKS, but mine had a seperate ground wire from the harness. If it does, did you ground it to a good spot?

Mine was plug and play too, but I needed to ground it. It had a black wire seperate from the harness that needed to be attached to a bolt under the dash. I guess I'm just asking if there's a ground wire coming off the harness because if that's not connected, it won't work.

Connect it to one of the metal bolts under the dash. There should be a frame structure that is metal with metal bolts. Pick one of those, connect it, and try it out. It should at least power on.

There's a bunch of the bolts under the panel right under the steering wheel, above the pedals. I think it's 3 or 4 screws to pull it off.

ground it, attached the emergency brake wire and it should be good.

Remeber, you want to attach the power source to green wire.

If you still need help, check RRE website, they have instructions in PDF file. The extra wires are brown (for handbrake switch), white (O2 voltage for A/F readings) and black ( can be grounded to bolt like Phish said or spliced to O2 ground in ECU). If you are not using A/F reading feature, then ground black wire to a bolt. There is one under removable panel on driver side of dash, right under A-pillar, so you don't need to remove dash. Make sure you have metal to metal contact.
