I just installed my Bosst gauge last week and am noticing that the boost will peak at 20 and then taper. I dont have my BC hooked up yet, it is still stock. The gauge needle was at zero when i put it in so I dont think it is a faulty gauge. Does this seem right?

lance; Stock is 19.5 so your gauge seems right.

As for any of you who are thinking about changing factory boost levels. Changes to stock boost should be accomodated by proper ecu mapping. Turbo trix and dynoflash are very reasonable. The works p2 is nice as well. It probably goes without saying but I will anyway, If you are not knowledgable the boost arena is no place to play as you can produce a detonation which can really damage your pistons, rods or worse.

It probably is correct, due to the colder weather you will end up spiking a little higher then you will probably see it drop off then raise back up again as you go through the powerband. I am pretty sure the stock syliniod is just setup for raw duty so winter time will have higher boost and summer time you will loose alittle bit of boost or a slower climb to your level.

Sorry to jack threads, I was just wondering if it was safe to run 20psi. Oh and my car doesn't taper.
That kinda sounds like fuel cut to me....

It ain't fuel cut guys, fuel cut is like slamming into a wall. Car doesn't want to go anymore and jerks and you will get a cel. If you want to know how fuel cut feels like, take your stock EVO to 7500rpm and you'll know. Ev0 1, take your car back to the dealership and have them troubleshoot the problem.

If it is completely stock bring it to the dealer. If you have any sort of intake on it, that may be messing with the MAF making it think you are pulling in more air and making it run extremely rich. I have the same thing happen if I give my car more gas (+3% from 3-4.5k rpms). My datalogger blows *** so I was just screwing around if your wondering why I raised the fuel in that area. Buy a datalogger and see how rich/lean you are. Also could be terrible gas causing knock.

I have alot of parts but no tuning and I run my car fine with no knock at 21psi and then it tapers to around 18-19 at redline.

^the computer will automatically compensate for the slightly lower boost, the tune won't be affected
