Why?

Cleaning up a mess from a shop who attempted and EVO clutch swap.

I've done my fair share of DSM clutches... and figured this wouldn't be too different. But, the shop did some really odd things pulling the trans and what not.

It appears they completely disassembled the center differential. Was that really neccesary? And while I haven't got a GOOD look at everything, I think I've found 2 diffs. Did they take apart the front diff too??

Anyway, I was wondering if there were some links to shop manuals for the EVO so that I can get all the torque specs right. (and if I have any trouble reassembling the diffs).

Any other helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

There is two things that are different on this car than other dsm when taking out the tranny. The shaft that the left axle goes on must be removed. It conects the center diff to the tranny. Second the bearing must be unclipped from the presure plate before you unbolt and remove tranny. It is a pull design rather than push. I found out thr hard way. It took me about 15hrs to change my clutch. I had no manual. Other than that everything is the same.

WRX/STi's use a pull type, so I am familiar with the rod that holds the fork/bearing together (remove with an M10 bolt)

The problem I have now is putting something backtogether that looks like it was WAY too far apart, lol!

I guess the best thing would be a link to any manuals. The Subie community has the PDF files on-line... I was hoping somewhere in the EVO world there was the same thing.

I actually have the pdf's on my hame PC I think.
I reviewed them before I installed my twin disc. Ill check and see if I still have them when I get home from work. If so I'll send them over to you.

What exactly are you looking for anyway? Just the torque specs for the transfer case, or how the thing goes back together. Im in MD also, so if you need an extra I'd be glad to help out.

At minimum, torque specs would be great... but anything extra would be awesome.

Like I said, I am taking over where a shop left off... and I just don't see the need for some of the things they did.

thanks!
