Question help with boost guage

i just installed my boost guage with the help of the write up in the intall forum, my problem is that the guage shows that i am only boosting 14psi tapering to 11psi, what could be the problem??? i checked for leaks and did not find any. any help would be appreciated. ( i bought the car used and the person that sold it back to the dealer had it modded and then changed it back to stock, so now i dont know where to start looking to trouble shoot.

Does the car have a MBC on it? If so it may be tuned down for whatever reason the previous owner had. I'd also try another boost guage to make sure it's not broken. Also where are you "T" into to read the boost?

are you seeing 14psi in all the gears? 14 psi is normal in the first 2 gears.

Make sure you cut the right hoses to tap into. I used one near the intake manifold and "t" connected from there. Also make sure the ends are on there tight. Might need to clamp them securely or zip tie them, which is what i did. If it does have an MBC then you'll need to check that.

good luck!

your tapping into the fuel presure solinoid. You should move the tap to the BOV line.

I tapped into the same line. my boost gauge is on turbo timer though (DCII DTT Blitz) when i drive,@ WOT, it boosts heavy- 18-21 psi, then tapers down after about 5500 rpm's. to about 14/15 psi( sorry, it's hard to convert KP to psi while driving.
Not sure about the accuracy of gauge though, so i was looking to get seperate boost gauge anyway. where did you mount yours?

I wanted to do the same thing, but was worried about "warranty" since mitsu is so touchy about BOV's

A lot of us have had no problems using that location. That location will definitely give you a reading straight out of the intake manifold.

i think its normal cause the evo does not boost as much @ high rpms.
what kind of fuel using? (i.e. 91, 92, 93, 94 sorry, i don't know where pembroke pines is)
i found that mixing 100 octane, and 92 octane to get around 94 octane smoothed out my boost curve. i'm guessing that the ecu senses better octane and use diff map.

i just took it for another spin to see if it happens in all gears and it surely did, the highest i saw was 13-14 psi tapering to 10-11 psi. i double checked all the hoses, etc and did not find any leaks. i am out of ideas.
