Pics of Coil per Plug Setup

Here are a few pics of the ignition system I built. It includes a AEM C2DI, 4 MSD Blaster SS Coils, and a set of Taylor 10mm plug wires for a DSM. I had to re-locate the battery in the trunk as I used the Buschur Mini Battery tray to hold the CDI. I went to the hardware store and picked up some miscellaneous hardware and a small sheet of aluminum, to mount a tray to hold the coils above the CDI. I am not currently finished with the fabrication as I would like to put a thicker tray in to hold the Coils and mount it a little higher and more level. I will be sourcing a place locally to make the trays, so it will look a ton better.

Also, the original positive source for the battery is still present and connectected to a 4 gauge wire to the battery in the trunk. This will be changed to have power distribution block mounted out of the way like the one for the ground wires.

What's your total out of pocket (or estimated upon completion) expense of this setup? Thanks!

Total cost to me for the CDI, Coils, and plug wires is around $500. The tray shouldn't cost anything to have built and I will know more in a week or two.

It is really simple to wire up as a matter of fact. It is a waste fire set up and coils 1 & 4 are wired in series and 2 & 3 are wired in series. If I could find the plugs like the ones that are attached to the stock coils it would actually be a plug and play unit, besides the ground and the power for the CDI box that have to be hard-wired in.

Do you have the stock coils you'd be willing to get rid of? I need another set of coils.. Regardless if their functioning or not..

I was thinking of holding on to them, I was hoping to use the "male" end that is part of the coil to wire it to the CDI's wiring harness to have a true "plug and play". Do you know where you could source some plugs like this, cuz that is all I want the coils for?

Actually I was wanting these coils so I COULD find a vendor and match for the connectors so I can finish my setup as plug and play (And offer harnesses to you guys) since the only two places who have found this info are not willing to share the info or sell harnesses seperately.

I'm fairly certain the plugs are manufactured by Denso, but without a closeup of the connector I am having trouble matching it, and I can't really take my coil out every time I'm doing research so I wanted a set that I could salvage the connectors so I can show my parts vendors so they can match them.

But Understood, I plan on keeping my stock coils intact and in the trunk of my car so I can swap back if there's a problem with the aftermarket ignition, therefore plug and play is my absolute priority.

I think I know of the 2 places that have the connectors. Anyways, I can send you one of my coils for now so you could source the plug if you want to do that. I am just wanting them around incase something fails on the CDI like you stated as well. I would also like to get both the female and male ends of the plug to redo my setup as I cut the plug off of my end of the wire harness to hard wire it in.

I don't want to leave you without coils just in case.. I have another source of potential "burned coils" that I'll look into.. Otherwise I'll try to get a defective set from my dealer (they usually have warranty repaired junked parts laying around after the stuff is inspected)

I'll send you one as I have my car running fine on the new setup, I would just like it back when you source the plugs in case the CPP setup fails.

Stock engine besides headstuds, HKS 272's, and HKS 1.0mm headgasket with AMS's GT35r kit and AEM EMS. Also, all other supporting mods. Haven't dynoed it with the new setup just been street tuning for a while now. I was planning on going back to Chicago to have Martin Musial of AMS tune it again, but since we have 2 Mustang AWD Dyno's being installed in the area we might have him come down for a tuning trip.

After posting "WTB Ignition Upgrade" and hearing and now seeing what you've put together, I'm really hoping that you could share a complete "how to" with us. As I am upgrading to a substantialy larger turbo, I've been obviously concearned about the stock system. What do you think?
