Second Gear lockout when cold
My car has just over 1800 miles on it and I recently swithced to BG Synchroshift cause I heard so many great stories about it. I put the Synchroshift in about 3 days ago and the car has been shifting much better overall. This morning when I left the house the car would not go into second gear at first. I backed out the driveway and took off in first and I went for second and its like it just wouldnt go in. I didnt think much of it at first cause I got in in gear eventually. Well I get about a mile down the road and come to a stop sign. As im leaving same thing happens once again. After the second time it didnt do it anymore for the rest of the day. It only did it when really cold.
This is the first time that has ever happened to me. I have read several posts on this but I was just wondering is there something I should check? The car has the LancerShop short throw kit installed (undershood bushings and shifter bushings). As said before the car has 1800 miles on it, and about 80 miles on the new Synchroshift. Is this something I should worry about or just accept it cause thats the way the EVO is? Thanks

yep, I can report similar findings as well. When cold, very difficult shifting...I try to let it warm up 10 min or so on really cold days before driving, even then it's a bit tough. So, at least you know it's not just you (I'm also using the syncroshift with the same results.)

Thanks for all the replies. Today when I drove off it didnt do it but it did feel a bit knotchy. I usually go out, start the car and let it run for a good 45 seconds the I drive off. I will start letting it warm up more on cold days. I guess I will start letting it warm up more brfore I leave. Thanks again

I have the same lancershop kit on my car. The improvements were noticable.
The notchy second gear when cold is normal. Warm your baby up and take it easy for a few minutes when driving. Remember, just 'cuz the engine has warmed up doesn't mean the tranny and tranny fluid are warmed up yet.
