The biggest waste of money?

There is thread going on in the RSX Forum about a race between a RSX with I/E/Hondata #4 and a EVO with I/E (legal of course ) and I was shocked to see that the EVO lost this race. I know the EVO doesn't have the best power up top, but there is no reason why an EVO (especially one with bolt ons) should lose to a RSX with bolt ons. I know all about the RSX, and RSX with similiar mods trap at 14.2 to 14.5 @96-98MPH, not bad, but stock EVOs should trap higher. So I believe the problem may be that the mods on this guy's EVO are actually robbing horsepower instead giving him any gains. I've heard rumors of intakes robbing horsepower, is this true? What mod do you think is the biggest waste of money for the EVO?

If I am thinking of the same video then it really didn't look like a race.

some type of aftermarket racing seats, steering wheel, or brake calipers are the biggest waste of money

If it's street racing then anything can happen. ****ty driver, miss gear, etc.

It's just me but I'm not going to fork money for aftermarket rims but it depends what the individual want looks, power, handling, etc. It starts to get pricey when you want a little of everything.

Short throw shifter, 150 bucks goes a long way towards other things, just learn to move your arm further, and then the exterior....all things I want to do though lol

The EVO should win that race hands down. Im not hating the RSX at all cause I think it is a great platform. Today at the strip my buddy pulled a 13.8@102 in his RSX from i/h/e and hondata reflash. I was really impressed of what it ran from just bolt ons. A EVO with exhaust and intake should be at the slowest a 13.5 second car.

I think that buying an intake is one of the biggest waste, just throw a drop-in in it. Its $200 that I wish I wouldnt have spent

im pushin 355 awhp and i have a stock air box... its been proven that intake will add only like 5 hp even with a turbo kit on this car. and a stock evo should beat that rsx in the 1/4. the problem is that many people dont know how to properly launch their evos. i have seen soooo many high 14 second passes at the track. but im sure this guy was just learning.. im sure he will be able to cut some better times in the future.

i learned my lession with my wrx. modding before learning to REALLY drive is the worst waste of money.

I've made a promise to myself. When/If I get my evo this summer, i am putting aside ~$500 for new tires after I destroy them at auto-x and lime rock HPDE sessions. I'll mod myself before the car ok maybe a set of evo7 tails

Biggest waste of money is having to replace a clutch with less than 20k miles. Ive never had to do this on any of my other vehicles. I saw that thread on CRSX also, i think they raced from 60 mph roll or something. Definetly wasnt a stop. My last car was a RSX with I/RH/E/hondata and it did very well from a highway roll. Just because one EVO gets beat from a roll, all the Rsx guys seem to think they can all beat Evos too. Dont get me started on the 350z drivers over there.
