anyone have any issues with lifter ticks? I posted a thread in the newb section but just wanted to ask everyone

you bet it does...Like crazy on a cold morning, mine is mainly because of the 272's.

 

^ same here.. 264/264. Only on cold days though. In the warm months (as most are here in FL) it's not bad; if at all. I just let it warm up till I see the water temp move. That usually is the exact same time the ticking stops (once oil is flowing).

 

mine does it all the time and I do not have cams...

 

Heck, I only have the Lancer OZ and mine ticks on cold mornings. My Eclipse did the samething, so I never really worried about it.

Stock cams on mine and ticks like crazy! I use 5W30 Mobil 1 oil btw.

 

I asked Mitsu about this and they said the ticking was caused by the injector pulse. But what ever is causing the ticking mine does it to.

 

did you guys try running thinner oil. 0w, 5w

 

put your fingers on the inj. that will tell you if its them

 

just floor it sometime - that'll blow those suckers right out

 

If you changed your cams without replacing the rockers, with new ones. I would think that the wear patterns (swipe point) will be different and cause ticking.

 

Mine does also. Pretty common from what I have heard

 

i get ticking on my 264's... also, when i go WOT in 1-2 gear i get this loud whale when i get up in the rpm's, but i can't hear it when i rev or when i go slowly in the rpm's... anyone else got this before? it did it right after i put injectors in.... what could i do to stop it? i had brand new HKS 680cc put in....

 

thanks for the replies guys. all but one of my dsms had lifter ticks and i just wanted to see if everyone else was ticking as well lol
