Clutch pedal and engagement problems

Just want to introduce myself since im new. Located in MD, I have a 04 Evo with 8k miles, 3in exhaust, HKS SSQ BOV, just installed (700mi) exedy twin disc, restrictor removed, and SS clutch line. I bought the car with a badly slipping clutch. So i installed the exedy twin with the shorter slave rod, restrictor removed, and SS line. The car drove and shifted fine threwout breakin(500mi) but now when the car sits the clutch pedal will be low(about 2inches from floor) and it wont go into ANY gear. When i experienced this, i found out that it was engaging right off the floor. So i was thinking just adjust it from underneath, but than i had the idea of pulling the pedal up by hand since it seemed very low. Now with the pedal, i guess in normal position, it shifts smooth, engages PERFECTLY and goes into gears nice. If i let the car sit over nite the pedal will be low again, and than i have to do the same process. After i raise the pedal with my hand, i can drive around with no problems. Pedal feels nice, its only when the car sits, than its low and i cant get into any gears. This cant be normal. I bled the clutch line buch of times, adjustment is perfect, im at around 700 miles on the clutch, brand new OEM tob with clutch installation. Im thinking maybe slave cylinder is going out. Just posting up here to see if anyone else had this problem or can give me any ideas. Tried searching, but nothing found. Thanks for the space.

From what you said, I would replace the slave cylinder and re bleed it properly.

Yeah it sounds like air in the clutch lines/master/slave cylinder or low fluid level.. Definitely have it checked and bled.

MalibeJack being the guru here, but I have been told that having the restrictor removed on an aftermarket clutch isn't good. That isn't your problem though, just FYI. Whats the possibilty of the ss clutchline not being threaded all the way in on the master cylinder and air getting in that way? Or how about the bleeder beign left slightly open?

my fluids are fine, im gonna double check my lines for leaks and re bleed the system. Is there a special way to bleed?? I just crack open the bleeder, push the pedal down slowly to the floor, than close bleeder, pull pedal up, than crack bleeder and repeat, while checking resovoir. Thats how i do it. Thanks.

Late update... i checked my lines and found out it was leaking a TAD bit where the SS line meets the slave cylinder. Ive tightened it, but still leaks ALITTLE. I removed it, and installed new crush washers, but it still leaks. Has anyone have this problem? Im not crossthreading the bolt, and im installing the washers with the flat sides towards the line. The onlything im not doing is torquing it down, but i cant fit a torque wrench in that space. ANY IDEAS????

Whatever it is - It's Hydraulics.

FWIW - Exedy does NOT recommend installing a SS clutch line, extender rod, or making ANY adjustments to the OE clutch / hydraulic system to "help" any Exedy product.

Remember, Exedy designed the OEM clutch (to Mitsubishi specs and standards) and EVERY performance clutch Exeyd makes is made to work with the OEM *stock* components.

Don't believe that everything they sell that you can put on your car is actually good for it.

On a side note - I have a Brass Shifter bushing that everyone was ranting and raving about seize up on me the other day and cause a TON of headache. Just another case of listening to others without thinking it through myself... needless to say, the OEM pieces are going back on.

Sorry for the off-topic post, but how did the brass shifter bushing sieze up on you? Did you grease them up when you installed them? I've had them in my old GSX and now my EVO and have never had any issues.

Sorry about the resurrection, but...

I want to hear about this... and what symptoms it caused.

Another LATE update... couple of weeks back i installed a new slave cylinder(restrictor and stock rod in place) and bled it MANY times.. with NO LEAKS ANYWHERE, it STILL does it. Pedal doesnt go ALL the way to the floor, maybe 1.5-2inches from floor.. but still, i have to lift it up to shift. Last thing i can think of besides the clutch is the slave master cylinder. Im surprised nobody has had this problem. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

The pressure plate is indeed what returns the pedal but I believe it's your throwout. These snap into place and are tricky to install if you are not familiar. My tech made it a point to show me this as I had seen it referecned in the instrutionns packed with my ACT clutch set and wanted to make sure he knew about it. I hate having anyone touch my car, but in this case I was able to check each stage of the work.
