Thumbs up 10.5 hot side made a huge difference today...

i took the 05 into Dyno-Comp's dyno day today to do a baseline run. it pulled 237.3hp @ 6500rpm & 233ftlbs @ 4400rpm. that is 12 more whp than my 03 WITH MODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also Mitsu lied on the crank hp. with a 37% driveline loss, the '05's 237.3whp is 325.10 crank HP!!!

both cars were run on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with a driveline loss factor of 37%. stock 03's & 04's were pulling an average of 197whp on that same dyno at the same place.

also peak boost was 21psi tapering to 17 on the 05.

on the 03 it was 18 tapering to 15.5 both running 91 octane.

I am familiar with this dyno and those are some sweet numbers if your evo is stock. My car is only getting about 305 on that dyno with a lot of stuff I am hoping for 330 when I get my cams put in there in a few weeks. I love that shop...they are very professional and know what they are doing.

You should see at least 20hp on cams. I want to do a higher boost run (25psi) to see what I can put down so I will do my next runs with 100 octane. My last runs were on generic 91 octane...probably not the best gas for power. BTW where do you get your race fuel in Phoenix?

Well there's a hp difference right there, 3lbs of boost pressure is worth ponies anyway you look at it. Turn up a 03' to hold 21 lbs and it will be a closer heet.

37% is way too high. Once again, you can't base engine power on a wheel dyno. Especially one that reads notoriously low. Actual AWD loss is 25% or so. Everyone knows the Evos are slightly underrated and put out close to 300 stock. Also keep in mind that your MR's lower gearing will slightly inflate the numbers. You can hardly compare this with an 03 GSR on a Mustang or Dynojet.....

I get the Trick 101 at Chandler Blvd & 44th St, and i sure hope I get more than 20-25whp out of new cams and a custom tune, I really am hoping to see ~40-50, but maybe I am dreaming

37% is way too much. I dunno why they say that. I mean do the math. stock evo 270hp * .37 = 100 so according to that stock evos would be making 170 on that dyno. Just do the math...if stock evos put down 200 then 70/270 = 26%. I also saw a lamborghini Gallardo put down 340 on this dyno which claims 500hp so
160/500 = 32%. That would mean the loss went up because the levels went up. I am not sure how accurate these numbers are.

I wouldn't hold your breath for that much of a gain. I doubt I will even see that much with my huge *** turbo. I am thinking 30 max for myself.

the math works like this:

stock 05 crank hp (276) divided by 1.37 (driveline loss of 37%) =201.45 whp.
05 is bone stock (see my mods in sig) & in Australia (where this dyno was built & designed) they factor about 35-38% loss for subies, skylines, & evos. #'s may be low but it's closer to realistic as that dyno is accurate down to 0.1hp & it's also safer to use & takes less time to set up your car (5min max!).

for comparison, Rich stated a stock 05 STI pulls about 225whp on his dyno so in essence Mitsu lied about crank hp (325.1) or i got a Wednesday motor!!!!
