I just finished my engine.
I have a stock bottom end except I removed the balance shafts.
I spent alot of time on the Head. Ported/polished, polished chambers, unshrouded valves, +1mm SS valves (3 angle), Jackson Springs and Ti retainers, resurfaced head.
All I can Say is "WOW". Spins up much faster. Head flows much more. I had to add about 20% more fuel accross the board to make up for the increased flow. Turbo Spools-up about the same but boosts higher and holds it. (stock turbo).
I also cleaned up the intake and exhaust manifolds quite a bit.
All the head work only costs me; port/polish (free, I did it. Ok P+P cartrige rolls, etc cost about $30), Parts: $330, Machine work: $360= $720 for $1500 worth of head work.
