I think hey meant Buschur reccomends 85. I can see how the posting was confusing. I think 95 is too much cause even ARP warns about the difference in heat expansion between aluminum and steel, our head being aluminum will expand much faster then the headstuds will, creating alot more pressure on the stud over and beyond the 95 ft-lbs cold that you torque them to. Im going to be installing mine this week and I think I will keep it at 85 with the moly lube. Thats the other issue people arent mentioning if they are using the lube or motor oil with their torque specs. Alot of misinformation can be spread that way.

Nobody has answered the question of cycle torquing the nuts yet, ARP reccomends doing this 5 times, but does that mean torque it to 85 each time, and loosen them and put them back to 85, or start at 70 and work up to 85?

i did mine with the one-by-one method to 85ft/lbs. i have since went to retorque them twice, but found they hadn't loosened any. i've been running 25-26psi for about a week now with alky and no problems.

Yes, after looking back at what I posted, it was almost 11pm after I'd had an early morning. I've never torqued a ARP studs at 95ft lbs on an Evo... I have gone 85 on my car and a couple of customer's (at their request). I should have stated that better.

75ft-lbs on my headstuds with moly lube. Of course let the car sit overnight. All I did was yank one bolt out start at the center criss cross out. Next cleaned out the hole with a gun cleaning kit. Then I replaced it with a stud, cranked the stud a bit with the allen wrench to make sure it wasn't binding in the block. Finally tighten the bolt onto the stud at 75ft-lb. Ran the car with a couple hard pulls came back let it cool with a fan on the engine for 4 hours or so and retorqued with no back out. Since then I have gone to the track and run my best times so far and a week ago I let the car cool overnight and retorqued the bolts again with no movement.

BTW I ran my car a few times on the stock bolts with 28psi and ran an 11.55 and 11.56 @ 123 on the stock bolts with no problems. I just wanted insurance. I don't think 75ft-lbs is too little, but I might try 80 in the future just to be a bit safer. Since people aren't experiencing failure at 95ft-lb I assume 80 would be safe still.

So, the moly lude goes on the threads that the nut rides on. What about between the nut and washer?
