GM Synchromesh Question

I went to pick up some Synchromesh today from the local GM dealer and I have two questions:

1. The weight of the oil wasn't on the bottle, is it standard? (75W85-90 ?)
2. It says semi-synthetic on the bottle, isn't there a non-synthetic option and is that not the better of the two?

Thanks
Devin

http://www.stealth316.com/2-pennzoil-synchromesh.htm Check that out. Basically, if not exactly, the same stuff from GM.

I picked some up today also. You need 3 quarts. It was 12 bucks a quart but I talked the parts guy down to 8.70. I replaced a transmission full of MT-90. The Redline felt good at first but it started to get hard to shift after about 4K miles. So far the SyncroMesh is very nice.

I posted on another thread about this...but no reply...

Ive heard that synchromesh isnt GL-4 rated...but our manual says we need a GL-4 fluid for the tranny. Im worried about warranty- im still stock.

But, if the dealership were to drain it, could they actually tell if I have synchromesh in the tranny as opposed to any GL-4? Is it a weird color or viscosity or something?

BG makes SynchroSHIFT. Pennzoil/GM makes SynchroMESH. The Pennzoil version is exactly the same as what you'd buy at a GM dealer except that it cost $4.99/qt at Autozone.

Pennzoil synchromesh is much cheaper that getting the GM stuff from the dealer. A local Autozone carries it for $5/qt.

I visited 2 auto parts stores and they both had 1 Pennzoil. If only there were another one I could have used it. Oh well, the Chevy dealer had more than either of us could carry.

I've got probably 30k on the Pennzoil Syncromesh now... changing the fluid about every 10k or less... never looked back.
