Is a Auto possible
Is a Auto possible
Now I know 95% of you are going to come back with lines like "why would you do that to a Evo, its not meant for the drag..." save it. This topic is not to debate why or why not its a good idea to put a automatic transmission, but rather to see if it is in fact possible and has anyone made any advancements.
So my question is, for someone who wanted a automatic transmission, obviously with a 4000 stall or so, and able to withstand the line pressure it would need to handle a 500awhp AWD Evo, is it possible. Ive seen powergildes in SRT-4's already and in Neons for years. Is it possible?

Mitsubishi actually has an automatic Evo. Released in Asian countries and Europe, the Evo GT-A uses a de-turned 4G63 engine (rated at 250ps) with a tiptronic automatic transmission.
To answer your question, it is possible and has been done. However, I doubt the stock automatic transmission will hold 500whp...

it's detuned at 272 (not 250ps) .. it runs the smaller TME turbo (65mm compressor) with a smaller turbine housing (9.0 vs 9.8)
its 5 speed with shifttronic style buttons on the steering wheel..
Stock drivetrain has been tested to 400fhp in japan .. with upgraded trans .. guys are running 2.2 with hks GT30 series turbos ..
