How many of you have seen a Harley Davidson pulled over for being loud? I have never seen it and hundreds upon hundreds of them come through here daily in the summer. It is flat our harrassment on the law enforcements parts.
The other thing that kills me is the suggestions to replace the exhaust.

Anyway, the quieter the exhaust the more restrictive it is, period, end of statement, been proven a hundred times.
You want the most power? Buy our exhaust. You want less power and a quiet system buy someone else's. All these hush hush quiet systems you guys are suggesting ROB power, I have dyno'd them, magazines have tested them, they ROB POWER!
I believe the guy that started this thread has our Magnaflow muffler option on the car, it is a pretty darn quiet muffler. Put a cat in the system with it and the system become very quiet. For those of you that have heard our exhaust and think it is extremely loud the guy that bought the system probably wanted the lightest weight and highest horsepower he could get....and that is what he got by buying our system with our lightweight muffler.
You can easily paint the muffler with a hightemp paint, I would suggest cleaning the muffler off with just soap and water and then going out and driving it to get it good and dry and hot. Paint it while it is still WARM, not extremely hot. This will help it dry and stick better.
The new DragSport, as I started to say, just tested silencers on a GTR. One of them lost over 120 whp by putting it into the exhaust of this 700 whp Skyline. Proof.

. Cops don't like shiny things so they are obviosly against good taste. It does sound like you might have a good shot with the judge if you take it to court... then keep a record in case it happens again. That should allow you to prove harrassment. PS Do they have a right to tell you to rev the car? That seems to me like them telling you to speed to see if the car is capable of exceeding the speed limit and then giving you a ticket for speeding...
Problem is most cops associate us with rice boy racers (little retards with LOUD exhaust that buzz around and cause problems) I have been pulled over so many times just b/c of the way my car looks. I got harrassed when my exhaust was stock!!! They made me rev it for them. Oh well...i guess thats what you deal with when ou drive an Evo!
The police are now writing tickets for Obstruction of Vision. This is for the rear wing that comes factory on the car. WTF?! It is out of hand. The cowards won't mess with real criminals it is easy to mess with a guy that has a nice car and works hard to modify it.

Although I agree with you on the Harley Davidson thing but your point is not clear. Cars are every where, everyday we see them and we drive them to work everyday. Harley is for fun weekend some time in the summer and sometime with friends. Having all the cars in the world being loud is an issue as there are soo many cars out there but having Harleys loud is not a big deal because they are not on the streets everyday and not as many (do you see my point). About the part that loud is always better I will have to say that you are mistaken because I don’t think that Nopi exhaust is good but its very loud and perhaps its louder than yours. Using the right material and right thickness of the exhaust will make it quieter and will yield better WHP..

You aren't looking at the LAW. The law is what is suppose to be inforced. Not types of cars etc. There are decibel limits in different cities that are to be enforced. What you are saying is since Harley's don't drive year round they can be as loud as they want. If you have a nice car that is loud though it should be pulled over....come on, get real. The law is the law. You should just say that in your neighborhood only people from Ohio rob banks each week but people from California only do it once a year, so since there aren't as many Californian bank robbers the cops should let them go.

agreed with Dave... those damned harleys are annoying as hell... i used to love f'n with them with my Celica... had quite possibly one of the loudest exhausts ever... lol... but when i got on it only... Harley's are loud just sitting idle'n... just paint your can either flat black or a dull gray... if you don't have a cat, throw one on... and stay off the gas around cop hotspots... if they pulled you over because of a shiney can, ask them the definition of probable cause... just because it's shiney, doesn't mean it's illegal... if it was, the Harley's need to get pulled over as well...

yea getting a different setup might help, but your personal rights are still being violated by this city ordinance, if there is in fact a REAL ordinance in place. Call your city councel rep and talk to them about what is REALLY going on. SOme times, cops enact things that the cities don't santion. Worth a shot at least.
