Not true nickracer9, my turbo set-up (AMS GT-35rl) spooled up full boost at 4100rpm's, at which the car felt like it was hit by a Mack truck from behind,

We made 550 whp on SAE Dynojet settings which actually puts us a little higher than the 556 which Im SURE was printed out on STD. Cheaters............J/K!!

550 range is about the most anyone has pushed who doesnt want to loose a good core motor from a huge hole in the block.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I only pushed my AMS GT35rl to 27 pounds no telling what it will feel like with say 33 or 35 pounds and a more aggressive tune.

I thought AMS belted out the most with an OE long block less cams...

A few people have done about the same. Its not a question of how much power can be made, its how far you really feel like going before putting a hole in something. If we had a customer come in and say "turn the boost up till you scatter my evo motor and dont stop till it does, I have unlimited funds, I dont care", then we'd be more than happy to try.

i was just exagerating the fact that you could put a really big turbo on the car and make some rediculous numbers on pump gas.

wow i remember another thread about the same topic, there are two evo's in daytona florida that had been pushing over 750 wheel horsepower, (they shipped their cars to new york for a week of dyno'ing) on the factory bottom end, with the exception of the rod bolts and main bolts. a few months back, i believe some time in december, they were out in one of them tuning it some more and accidently lean a cylinder out and trashed the piston, but luckly they were waiting for an excuse to build it into a 2.4l stroker. i havent heard anything else about them in a while, hopefully in the next month or so i will have an update. oh i know im going to be asked so no, the only thing that was still factory under the hood was the short block. everything else had been replaced and they had a complete engine control system, not the factory ecu.

I think it would last at 500 whp, but just not driving around with that everyday.

We've sold a few turbo kits to Ride of Daytona, I wonder if the cars in question are equipped with our kits? I doubt it though, we would have heard of those numbers. Are you sure they are true? I just cannot see a factory 7 bolt small rod holding up to 700+ whp.
