Boost level problem

I purchased a 2003 evo w/9k miles from carmax. Runs great and all but i hooked up my boost gauge and was surprised when it only boosted to 10psi. i went to jotech racing and they said my gauge was bad. The gauge worked a week ago. Any guess as to this problem?

CEL will not necessarily light up if there is a leak. Can I drive it and tell you what I think? (J/K)

Do you have a dealer nearby that you trust that could check it out? I've heard plenty of stories of bad guages and/or bad guage installs. I'm not one to usually endorse a dealership, but with the number of "mechanics" out there that have basically proven that they cannot handle the complexity and technology of the EVO (which really isn't that difficult, when you get right down to it) I figure that you can at least put the accountability on the manufacturer of the car

I dont live far from alamo autosports so I'm gonna run it by them. Dealers here suck. Nothing like dropping off my eclipse gst(modded) for a tsb and getting it back with an extra 40 miles.

Sux. I had to take my car to a body shop, and it came back with an additional 20 miles. I discovered this after the manager lied to me and told me they flatbedded the truck from one location to another. Last I heard, you don't have to test drive a car to make sure the body work is OK.

boost controller upped the boost but it should still be able to push more than 19psi stock so duunno if my guage is messed up or not but i dont have to worry no more cuz my car sux @$$ its now set @ 12psi and it has a horribly slipping clutch whic is waiting to be relived from its duty as soon as the new ACT gets here... i dunno id say boost it but i only set mine on 16psi just in case its the gauge... i would want to be constantly running like 23-24psi on pump gas and not even know it...

Just pulled out the k&n and found a vacuum tube underneath it from the solenoid that has been plugged with a bolt. Its the tube without the white markings and closest to the solenoid. I know this should go somewhere. Any clues? There is no tube running to the wastegate actuator.

go to the dealer and buy a hose kit for the boost solenoid. You should get 2 hoses, one with a T fitting in it. Someone had a boost controller on the car and pulled it out when they got rid of the car and did not hook the factory boost control back up.

After reading the forums for a few hours I came to the conclusion also of someone not replacing the removed vacuum lines. I was able to run new lines but only could boost to 15psi now. So I guess I will need to buy the factory lines with the pill to reach 19psi?

All is well now! Factory vacuum lines installed and now boosting to 19psi. thanx to everyone for your input.
