As far as i've read I don't see anyone with a 04 / 05 with any clutch problems.
If you have an 04 / 05 with clutch problems or have heard of some issues
please post, im planning to get an 04 wiht leather anyways but if the clutch problems are less too, im def going to go with it.

It's the same clutch. The problem is usually the driver.

Yeah, I heard that when u first break in an Evo your supposed to drive it like a baby. But most of the kids probably red line it on their first 5 minutes.

I attribute most clutch failures to driver error. Granted I have smoked my clutch on uphill starts and have done some 3k (NOT 7K) Launches which has smoked the clutch. But still at 36k on the stock one and I expect it to hold out. It chatters a little on the start below 2k but its moves and still grips just fine. I know when I push 350bhp It might start to slip. But we'll see when that happens.

What a parodox, have to launch on boost for maximum acceleration, but smoke the clutch doing it. I guess that is why the aftermarket for clutch sets for the evo is such a good business.

I can smell it a little at the track after a couple 3K-4K launches, but still grips great and the smell is gone the next day. That's the only time I'm hard on it, driving around town I'll let some punk spin his tires when the light turns green...I'll just ease out and punch it through 2 gears to leave him thinking about what just happened.

28k miles stock clutch. Now that I'm starting to push a decent amount of power I can feel it getting weaker..

It's the same clutch. It prob. a combination of people getting too hard on the 03's when the EVO was new and now that the word is mostly around, most people don't get to hard on it.

In addition to this I think either the 04's and or 05's have that rev limiter thing that helps.

my 04 went out a little over 9,000 miles and with no hard launches over 4,300 rpms. I actually thought I babied it w/ minimal launches, but did not last. The 05 MR is far better though.
