I have decided to do a cam test for this magzine article I am writing - it bascially is about alcohol injection - but as an aside I will test all the major cams and see what gains if any they all make on the same car same day.

Al is going have a set of our 272/264 combo for testing. This is our personal favorite cam setup. Best Low end and torque doesn't fall off as much. Can't wait for the test data to hit!

yeah its awesome even more fun to drive then before. It is so purkey, really feeling the power kick in at 3k, 3.5k. Blast to drive did a few 5th gear pulls from 80-130mph and it felt great to feel my head to back even at that speed. More important again more power between 2k-3k for cruising.

I'm just shocked, I cant wait to go drive it around tomorrow and beat her up a little. I cant believe with pump gas (93) I hit the numbers I did, I'm still in shock. That alky kit is now, making my mouth water to approach 400 much easier someday.

Man, congrats on those numbers. I just ordered my GSC 272 cams today, but i wont be getting them installed until i get my other mods (im slowly piecing everything together). I cant wait to get a custom tune on my UTEC, but when i do, ill post up some numbers for sure. Im really excited to see what my car is capable of once i have my mods in.

Wow awesome thread, I'm just blown away. Plus I just ordered the same GSC Cams from Dru at Logic Performance. By the way, one of the best if not the best vendor on the forum.

I can't wait until I get mine installed and follow the path that you did with a custom tune.

Congrats on your results!

What is GSC recommending on valve springs? It seems like if these cams really do make more power than HKS with the same duration and max lift, then they must have steeper cam lobes. I can't think of any other way that they could make more power. And if they do have steeper lobes, then they would be harder on valvesprings. Either that, or they are "underrated" on lift in general, which would also create a need for different valvesprings given that HKS lifts are already put the retainer closer to the valveseals. Has GSC said anything about how their cams compare to HKS in specs and lobe profile? I don't think I've seen anything.

Interesting, I had thought the hks, buddy club, and gsr were "identical", but maybe not?

Like you said, the lift and duration may be speced the same, but perhaps the profiles/ramp is diff?

Thanks,

That is what I thought as well. I thought I read that these cams came from the same factory and were "identical" but didn't say HKS on them so they could be sold at a cheaper price. $549 a set? I can get HKS cams for less then that.
