To anyone who installs an MR BOV, be sure you install it correctly. I put mine on backwards( can anyone say aixelsyd? ) and I got the stalling out in traffic, surging at light accelerator let-off, etc. However, it did sound really cool... Anyhow, it's back on( correctly ) and running perfect. Just a heads up...

Wow! that must have been hard to do.... Even installing it correctly is a PITA, I can imagine trying to get those outlets to line up......

Mine was nice until I turned up the boost after i put the bigger turbo on. It held well till 21lbs...but after the turbo and running 23-24lbs...it leaked and didn't hold. I also developed a vacuum leak in the valve after pushing 23lbs to it... But before my turbo, and at 21lbs..it was a great valve Now its the Forge for me

That should have been my first hint that something was not right... From now on I save the beer until after I'm done working on her...

Well, sometimes it's very easy to hook up stuff backwards, specially items that have 2 hose connections or 2 wire terminals..... It's too easy to get them turned around.

I took mine off and sold it due to stalling in traffic, and more boost surge than the stocker. Yes it was installed correctly, im going with aps when I have the money.

I bought and installed it in my MR, it works awesomely so far..... I can tell you that it holds boost better than the original plastic BOV, I actually tested the spring in the stocker by pusing it down against a scale. It was not completely accurate, but it seems to start to open at 18~19 psi .... I did not test the aluminum BOV in the same manner, I wish I had, but I don't want to go through the hassle of removing and reinstalling it. I've had no problems at all with it.

A little off topic, but some of us may be wondering how the mitsu dealers feel about this item on our cars... Afterall, it is a genuine mitsu product, not aftermarket. Do you think they'll still blame problems on having a different than OEM BOV? I was wondering this at my last service, but decided to take the safe approach and go in with the plastic one.

Its not to hard to remove so Id say swap it if you dont want to chance it. I just installed another jdm mr valve on saterday, only problems Ive had is it caused me to stall twice( in traffic conditions, inching up on the clutch and pushing it right back down), but ill learn to live with it.

from what i understand people are running 25+ psi with this valve without leaks...also I belive this unit like the 1st gen DSM valves (which is the reigning KING of bovs) can be crushed to hold even more boost.

Well I just put the metal JDM DV on my 03 and I can say I didn't notice a darn thing. No problems no gains no change in sound.

It runs exactly the same.....idles the same....responds to clutch input the same....bla bla bla.

I have no idea if my stock DV was leaking boost but even if it was I highly doubt the difference would be noticable unless you are running higher than 20 psi.

I put my on the other day also. A first I felt the exact same way as you. I was thinking, what's the big deal. After putting 50 miles on the car it was much better. My car/ecu needed time to adjust and now it holds boost great! Maybe too much boost.

This is very odd... Are you completely stock? For stock cars I think the plastic DV does a good job. You're really only holding 19-20 psi for a second and then it tappers. For those with a MBC, the stocker tends to leak based on my boost gauge and Hallman MBC adjustments. As with most parts, I'd say if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you were modded however, I think you just got a damn good stock DV!

I currently have only an XEDE computer with stage subzero load.

I have a turbo back exhaust that is waiting to go on as soon as it cools down. It's been 90 for several days now.

I'll update this thread again once the TBE is on the car...maybe I'll even switch DV's again.
