Does anyone have this clutch or know of anyone who has used it? Sounds like it may be a good street clutch for 300whp cars. I'm just curious how the engagement characteristics are for the clutch

I will have all the information you need concerning this application as soon as tuesday rolls around because thats when its out of the shop. Although I do have some specs that will give you a nice grin on this clutch. If your running under 400whp the hyper carbon single is for you because its able to handle up to 400whp with road racing. anything above that and it would smoke up pretty good. I'm running pretty much 300hp at the wheels with an ecu reflash full exhaust system and some ignition mods and I will tell you how this thing feels on tuesday. It weighs approx. 23lbs for the whole assembly. A full 8 lbs shaven off of the OE clutch assembly.

It is a very stout road racing clutch indeed.

Shift response will be lightning quick, and power capacity is upwards of 400HP.

Streetability is also going to be maintained, although you may have a tad heavier pedal feel (nothing bad tho). Weight savings as MrMejia mentioned is another highlight, expect to fly through those RPMs.

ive had it on my car for almost 6k miles and I love it, the break in miles(500+/-) suck but after that its great, especially with a short trow shifter and bushings, it goes trough gears like a sailor goes trough girls in australia, lol

so it makes for a good daily driven clutch? Does it shudder a lot with engagement?

My apologies in advance for my n00bishly dredging up this old thread.

But the Search pulls up something like a billion "Which Clutch Is Best For Me?" threads. Since I'm looking for some feedback on this specific clutch (Exedy Hyper Single Carbon), I'm asking it in this thread.

My car is bone stock, but I do a decent amount of road racing in the form of HPDEs. I'm thinking it might be worth my ponying up the extra dough for a carbon clutch since it seems to suit my particular application.

Questions/Concerns:

1) The main one: is this carbon clutch suitable for normal street use? I've seen some references to the need to "heat" the clutch up to get maximum bite. One of the Exedy sites I was on even had instructions for riding the clutch to get it hot. This concerns me.

2) "Chatter". How does it compare to stock?

3) Fast wear on the street? I saw a thread where some people said they only got 5k street miles out of their carbon clutches. One was probably an install problem. Anyone else having problems?

4) Anything else I need to know?
