Attn all Evo owners running MBC!!!!
Hey guys,
I was wondering if someone could come up with a solution for me. Here is the scenario. I recently purchased a Hallman Pro Boost Controller and have been running normal boost until recently when the boost started to intermittantly boost to only 16psi approx. This Morning I drove to work and the temporary boost to 16psi became permanent. I tried raising the boost but it still will not go past 16psi. I would appreciate anyone with opinions or a resolution to chime in on my situation. This is frustrating not being able to boost to 19-20psi. My car has the following mods done if this helps. Turboback, testpipe, downpipe, afc2, upper/lower IC pipe, FMIC, Aem intake, Works aperture.

well, although the hammer method is great...I'd suggest doing some checks for boost leaks. I know some people have had IC hoses come off, so check to make sure they're on tight as well. I ended up with my TT boost line coming off on my 03, and that seemed to have a negative impact on the boost (heh heh.)
Thanks guys, I appreciate your responses. What are the chances this is the Hallman Pro boost controller? How do you take it apart? If this started out intermittant could it be related to the actuator, or does that give you different symptoms? Thanks for all the inputs. Is there anyone who has had this happen to them using a Hallman pro?

spring took a dump... perhaps it's the light spring and lost it's dexterity even (like a coil collapse)... then again, could be a Vac leak in one of it's hoses... or, boost leak in the IC piping somewhere... or, last thing, could be in safe mode meaning a poor tank of gas...
just a couple ideas...
Good luck,

take on the front part on the actuall unit slowly cause thier is a ceramic ball in thier and it will pop out
take that out clean it and pull the spring out grab both ends of the spring and pull just slightly out wards on each end reverse and turn it all the way down and set ur boost from thier will work fine
mine has done it 2 times but only when it goes from extremly cold to hot in like an 8 hour period ...

This is just a stab in the dark and not an insult to your intelligence but, are you turning the boost controller up enough? Because on mine even though it says in the instructions to turn it a half turn at a time, i have to turn it at least 30 times from completely off to reach 21 psi. I am suggesting this because it looks like you havn't turned it up yet, so just figured i'd throw it out there before you go taking it apart.
We'll I took apart the boost controller and inspected the spring and everything seems to be ok. I also cleaned the Greddy Bov. And did a pressure test on the actuator by running a air pump to the actuator through a vaccume hose. The funny thing is the actuator would not hold the air I would pump into it. Is that normal? Could it be a bad actuator? It looks fine, and there is no sign of cracks or damage... I am getting frustrated.. ugh.... I am trying to not have to do a warranty due to the car being modded with test pipe and stuff. Any ideas?
By the way how many turns do I need to turn from all the way left toward the right on the MBC to reach 20-21 psi? I think I turned it 6 times.. It does seem to pull a little past 17psi unlike the stuck 15 psi yesterday, but not all the way to 20.
Thanks again
