9 whp gain after TBE install??????

ok everyone i need your help! my car dynoed 231 whp and 258 torque with a A/F of 13 @ 3000 drops to 11.5 @ 6500. this was before i but on my TBE(with HF cat) only mods where Injen intake, HBC @ 1.4, and mail in Dynoflash........Today i finally got my car on the dyno with the TBE. I was hopeing for 270-280 whp......NOT EVEN CLOSE

whp with the TBE was 240 and 280 torque with a A/F of 12 @3000 and below 10 between 5000 and 6500 ending up 10.5 @ 7000. i had then datalog my car for one more run to see if anything is wrong but they said the timing was fine.

so my question is: is there anything else that could be wrong besides the flash?

there was one other Evo there today, we have about the same mods.....he has a buscher TBE (no cat), stock airbox, HBC @ 1.4, and a AFC II. he put down 294whp with 285 torque.....

i was alittle upset so i went out and got a AFC II to fix my A/F.......but before i install the AFC i want to know if anything else is wrong.

thanks

ditch the flash, learn how to tune the safc by yourself and be rewarded with a job well done.

SAFC = junk. Get reflashed. You don't have to constantly tweek it and you can adjust timing also. SAFC only adjusts AFR. You did get 22wtq untuned. That's pretty good. Once it's tuned I bet you'll be happy

Was there a significant humidity and air temp difference between your past run and your current run?

Were these runs on the same dyno?

Did your friend run on the same dyno under the same conditions?

Dyno numbers are general guidelines and can be manipulated by several outside conditions and also user error.

In all fairness, your numbers are kinda low for a TBE, but I did see similar (although higher) gains with the same mods.

Defintely need a retune. Sounds like you are running a bit rich after your exhaust got put on. You can make good power with your AFC 2, but make better power with a mail in flash. I'd say hook up the AFC and tune it since you already bought it. Then if you would like, get the mail in flash and then you can fine tune it with the AFC.

I didn't have to constantly tweek my safc. Not only does the afc adjust afr, it also adjusts timing, but only small amounts by tricking the ecu into thinking it has a lower load when you lean out the afc. Safc's do work. One of my customers is currently at a 12.3 @114mph on a plain ole safcI and my tune on pump gas and 21 psi. Still a lot more left in it. 1st and 2nd gears weren't boosting fully and he's still on a stock clutch.

Curious as to why you would ask.

I'm not saying it doesn't work. Perhaps I was a bit to rash. For the cost of a SAFC you can get a custom flash which will make more power, be more reliable, and has more control over engine parameters. Plus it's undetecable to the eye, which is a plus IMHO. No disrespect to anyone who uses one intended. Just, IMHO, the money is more effectively spent elsewhere. I will say I have read posts of people going 11's using just the SAFC to tune so I'm not knocking it's a valid product.

BTW, thanks for the great deal on that clutch man. It should be here next week. I can't wait

Do you have a boost gauge? Checked for leaks?

What does the butt dyno say? you have only mentioned this on a number basis? Does the car feel better than what it did before? Just a thought.

i think you might have just got a bad flash. a lot of people tha get a flash usually get a huge significant gain just on the flash alone. plus i dont think you need to get reflashed if you add an exhaust so whether you flashed before or after it wouldnt matter according to some of the other "Flash vendors". I personally didnt get a flash cuz I had an AFC II, IMO an AFC is a much better buy than a flash which is what I think could be your problem. the person who did your flash possibly messed up or something cuz that is a rather low number compared to what many others are puttin down with same mods.
