Most you should strain your stock clutch with?

How weak is the stock clutch, really? How much HP can it take before it reaches the maximum and fails? I'm just the kind of person who doesn't see the point in replacing a clutch if it's almost brand new, especially if it doesn't need to be done. I wouldn't launch hard a lot, but maybe a few times a month. Anyway, thanks for any input. I searched but didn't see what I was looking for.

If it aint broke, don't fix it!! It's all about how you drive it. If you lauch it often, it will fail. I beat the snot out of my car, but rarely do I really launch it. The stock clutch is still holding up well with 14K on the clock. Car is at about 330HP at the wheels.

My car runs the stock clutch with no issues, And I am running quite a few parts. One including the GT3076 turbo. I am going to get every last dollar out of it becuase it isn't a fun or cheap job to put in a new one. Don't get me wrong some of the problems people have had they were diffently defective parts and some just have been abused but not all are or were defective. Just my .02

Not sure about my power level, but I'm running the stock clutch with the mods listed in my sig and it's holding fine.

I'd say just drive it the best you can, but plan on setting aside some money to change the clutch if you have to. People say it's a weak clutch, but that's relative... It can handle the power from moderate mods if you treat it right.

The stock clutch will hold about 370 ft lbs of torque at peak clamp load. That's what it will hold according to the math. It is a simple formula that should be posted on our website soon. If you allow about a 10% allowance for wear, etc, you are at about 330 ft lbs. This is a pretty safe number if you treat it right. I am not sure where that leaves you for approximate HP numbers, probably just under 400hp is my guess.

Naturally there are many other factors that influence the clutch such as heat and abuse. If you look at this forum much you realize that there are many people who can abuse them.

13,500 miles, modded from day one, no launches, works perfectly.
