Walbro Help!!!

Ok, i just installed the walbro fuel pump and now i am running very lean, to the point where the car wants to stall when i first start it up if i dont like floor it just to give it gas. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if someone knows what might be wrong with it. I am getting ready to take it out to see if everyone is fine with the install, so any input would be great before i do it.

Check for the plastic white spacer on the fuel pump. It is located where the pump connects to the fuel pump assembly. Also check the O ring gasket in the black connector opposite of the fuel float. Follow the black ground wire to it. Disconnect the black connector from the fuel pump assembly and look inside for the O ring. It should be seated on the black connector and not shoved into the cavity.

you need a tune after installing the walbro. i don't know if you've already done this or not, but it should help stabilize the situation.

You do NOT need to tune after you install the walbro. If anything it should run more rich, which being a fuel return set up, it shouldnt run much more rich at that.

I think that there is a problem with the installation or a faulty pump.
Re-do the installation

i agree, something is definitely wrong...you will always run rich after installing a working walbro...i second that you should re-do the install...if it still happens send it back as it is faulty...

double check your install against this Evo Motorsports walbro install

also, check that you slid the clamps all the way back on the nipples for the hoses...you may be pinching a line if they are incorrect...

I did most of the install. On the wrx's we don't use any of the kit, because the sock has been know to be ingested by the pump(stock sock has support inside and the walbro supplied one does not). Is this a known problem on Evo's? When we pull the pump out should we replace the the sock and anything else or is this not nescarry?

We used the link you gave as instructions when we needed to. Friend who installed a pump on his 03 eclipse helped. He told us it was almost the exact same as on his eclipse. The return hose (plastic piece) was also slighty bent in the install, but the hose covers the part that was bent and the clamp is after (closer where the plastic ends)

Put the stock pump back in and it runs fine. Still not convinced it's the pump, but for now it seems to be.

Any ideas on how to check?

We did.

Don't want to use Walbro one. I think I may know. We missed a piece off the stock fuel pump. The tan peice in the picture on step 14. Seems like it would stop it from sealing correctly so we are going to try that after his clutch goes in tomorrow. Evo Motorsports walbro install
