Bov?

I currently have a buschur stage 1. I am thinking of getting cams and possibly a BOV. I am not sure how it would help me. I don't care if it sounds cool. Will there be any performance gains and if so what? Thanks ahead of time, and yes I did search.

once you increase your cars performace and boost, the aftermarket bov are supposed to hold boost better and not leak where as the stock one could after enough modification. im not sure when to replace the stock bov, i didi right away because i knew id be modding.

Is there a point either at whp or psi of boost that the bov starts to make a difference when replaced?

the stock bov will hold up to 21 psi with little problems. i have gone to an aftermarket for future mods. Once you increase boost past stock levels then you are more prone for leaking under the stock unit. I also noticed that my boost spooled up a little quicker and held better when I went aftermarket.

As Smike has said... there's really no need to replace the stock one unless you are leaking or pushing pass stock boost level... way pass. I decided to change out to a Forge recirculating bov and after reflash I got... it works even better with my mods. I never had the idling issues, but do get the high boost surging, when you let off the gas pedal slowly. I'm running 21psi with mine and probably will go back down to 20psi for daily driving.

Got word from the Mike@Forge that it does not cause your car any problems and that it's is just very pronounced with the Evo when you turn up the boost, and shows that the BOV is "working". I do like the sound of it with the RMR intake I have. Even though it's recirculating, it's still pretty loud to get people's attention.

the period that you can hold boost with an aftermarket will be longer...if racing, in between shifts, this can be very valuable as you won't drop out of the boost or the near-boost range b/c you'll have quicker spool ups..with less lag.

I really like my APS BOV, I have had absolutely no issues with it. Most can't even say that about the MR.

Exactly, and even when recir its pretty darn loud.

Side Note: RS where in MI are you located? I just moved to the east coast. But I lived in Clarkston/Pontiac area for 10 years. Evos are rare in MI, but out here in NJ they are everywhere. Evos are to NJ like Camaros are to MI. Cant wait to Woodward to toast all those big block v8's

Smike:
i'm in Detroit. Evos are "kinda" rare. I see some once in awhile, but usually at the other side of the road. I know some Evo owners in the area, but the I hardly see them. Yeah Woodward is crazy on certain nights. Had a Cobra revving at me, but my radar was blasting the "Ka" tune, so had to drive nice. I'm sure you won't have any problems toasting some V8's with your mod plans.
