But now you have fuel cut. That's another problem I'm worried about.

can you buy a lower i/c pipe anywhere? Ive never seen one w/o buying a intercooler

AMS sells lower IC piping separate from the intercooler.....so far i think they're the only ones who sell it separate. I heard that Fighters Garage is looking into producing lower IC pipes for the EVO, but they have yet to have a finished product.

looks like aluminum, but just want to make sure. How close is the right lowere IC pipe from the downpipe now?

I know the stock ones are fairely close to the Downpipe.
It's farther away from the dp than the stock one is because of how I routed it. Look at the second pic and you can see the dp in relation to the pipe. Yes it is Aluminum. You will be in Atlanta Sat? I'll see you there.
