Drivetrain Problems on my '05

When the clutch is half pressed, I get a nasty howling noise coming from under the car. I have an exedy twin disc in there now, but I had the same problem with the stock clutch. Im driving an '05 with about 7,500 miles on it and it has been making this noise since 2000 miles.

The problem appears to be getting worse and the sound happens in all gears, even when starting the car from first. I have ZERO launches/track time on the car, even when the stock clutch was on.
*Im aware that this twin plate is loud, but this is a seperate issue.*

I have taken it to the dealership here 4 times and each time they tell me "we cant find the noise."

Anyone have any ideas or experience? It sounds as if something is vibrating.

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the hydraulic noise that the car makes when you have your foot off the clutch? All clutch cars make that noise. If you are talking about something else, then I don't know.. Sorry..

Something completely different. This noise is just awful. I'm looking for suggestions on what it can be. Thanks for the effort though!

Dont let it get to you. I didnt know what I was getting into when I got this car, but ive gotten used to it.. I try to not let noises and stuff like that get to me, because this car has a ****load,I wait till something breaks completely. Worst comes to worse, and the dealer wont replace, Ill take a loan and get a built tranny for shep.

How many miles are on your car?

Does this "howling" noise persist after you take your foot off of the clutch pedal?

Does it ever happen when you ahve the clutch pressed all the way down?

I think it may be your Throw out bearing. It is located inside the bell housing of the transmission, and these can go bad from time to time.

darthfoul, just under 8k on the car. This has been happening since 2k miles. The clutch was replaced as well as the throwout bearing at 5000 miles. The noise has not stopped.

When my foot is off the clutch, no noise

When the clutch is all the way down, no noise

Only when the clutch is half in does this happen.

Any other thoughts? Again, looking for ANY suggestions.

Car is going to another dealership (in NY) on Tuesday.

Thanks for all the help!

Yeah it's teh TOB, if it is not installed correctly the result is that noise you hear, it is also the ONLY issue you will get.

Not really, I mean it has to be lined up JUST right or it makes noise

I had the same **** in my TSI AWD, for that one split second it is off line, it's ok. That or your transfer case is about to go, one of the other

any special way to get these clowns at the stealership to get this right? I'm sure I will meet some resistance if I attempt to tell them they did this wrong...

It isn't a problem worth fixing IMHO and has to be set just right. The worst thing that can happen is what you have now Mine does it when it is VERY cold but as soon as it warmed up it went away IDK, if yiu had the dealership install that clutch, they will just VOID you as soon as you complaign.
