The reason why a 6mm deck height is better is simple... a taller deck height increases rod length. A motor with a longer rod has lower piston side loadings than a motor with a short rod. Less frictional losses, more linear power transmission, and decreased cylinder wall wear are all benefits. Typically a stroker kit will change the wrist pin location in the piston to move it higher, this is in an effort to get the longest rod possible in a short deck. The downside of this is a smaller ring land that is weaker and more succeptible to detonation damage. A taller deck height affords both larger ring lands and longer rods, which are all good things.

That is the thing, 99% of the people that do the full 2.4 blocks don't use the custom long rods. Unless you are going to get the custom rods just stick to your 4G63 block with 2.4 crank.

Hey, not my fault if people build them wrong

Both RNR and AMS have a great set-up. Both make superior products. You can't go wrong either way.

Without a doubt, use the 4g64 block.

I was under the impression that the evo 8 rods fit nicely with the 4g64 block & crank.

just buy weisco pistons & it's a dream. See below

Everything you said is true.... but both the AMS and RNR setups are using the same length rod... stock length. The RNR pistons will be stronger due to having the wrist pin in the stock location rather than having it raised up 6mm to compensate for the short deck hight of the 4g63. The AMS pistons are probably lighter (speculation on my part) since the pin is higher they can make the skirt shorter as well for a substantial weight savings, so you may actaully be able to rev the AMS higher without fear of damage.

we prefer 2.3 over 2.4 stroker kits because 4G63 motors have a bad track record wqhen it comes to popping head gaskets.

They do, but then you are not taking advantage of that extra 6mm deck height.
