I would say that Swain's is more effective, just based on the amount of material that is on the pipes. It is certainly different than anything else on the market. "Better" is a relative term.

Yup, coating the lower pipe probably hurts performance a tinny bit (if you still have the stock airbox that is) because the lower IC pipe is hotter than he11 and should radiate some heat out of the intake charge before it even reaches the FMIC.... sort of like putting a thermal barrior on the intercooler itself But it may compensate if you have an open element air filter by lowering the underhood temps a bit.

I might subscribe to your theory if the Buschur LIC pipe didn't have a heatshield attached to it. However, I'm certainly open to the possibility that I'm wrong.

I have this stuff on the exhaust manifold of my turbo truck and it works great. In my opinion it is more effective than other coatings on the market. It is kind of a PITA to clean, but I have found that Simple Green and a tooth brush (preferably an old one or your roommates) works pretty well when the engine is cold.

I'm not certain of how much value a thermal barrier is in this application, but FWIW, no other coating I've seen compares to the Swain Tech coating.

It's hot to touch because it's in the hot engine bay. Coating the pipes isn’t going to do anything to cool the air inside on the pipes as the air inside pipes move too fast to get heated up. So coating intercooler pipes is waste of time and money.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I don't agree with it, but hey, thanks for your .02

I suppose you'd say that air was moving too quickly through a hot intake manifold too, right?

Ah yea. Are you going to coat the intake manifold too

THinking about one of phenolic spacer things. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. And for only 100 bucks, it doesn't really matter. It's not like I bought a huge turbo and discovered it doesn't spool until 6000 rpms.

Besides, there are companies out there making carbon fiber intake manifolds. They have reported good results. Check out advancedinductionresearch.com.

Not trying to give you hard time, but I don't think it's worth it and the intercooler pipes look so, much nicer when they're polished.

And when are you going to see your polished LIC pipe? Seriously.

WHat's worth it to you and what's worth it to me are totally different things (obviously). To each his own. And again, for the umpteenth time, it only cost me 100 bucks.
