Well, I will soon find out, Ill probably be the first to do this setup, so we'll see.
I know that the compressor side is what makes for the spool responce, that is why I got the 3071, I got the .82 hotside for the additional power up top, which I was told from ATP that the bigger housing will make about 25 more hp up top than the .63. For a little more lag.
What matters is what my goals are, and thats to make 450whp on 100 octane and Im about positive, that will easily be the case..

spool is related to the hot side... so you wanna keep that small... this is what makes the 3071 AND the 3076 spool fast... the .63 housing... NOT the .82.

once again... vish is not running a stroked motor to my knowledge. it's about pounds of air flow... and the wheel on the 3071 in my opinion will not do it without taper.
With a 2.4L the hotside needs to be bigger in order to flow the extra air. If a .63 is used, surge may become an issue. Even w/ the restrictive ATP hotside, his car is going to spool like stock or faster w/ the 2.4L. I don't see why having the turbo taper near redline is so bad anyways. The stock turbo does it and we all seemed to survive. I think he going to have a very nice road/race setup .

Because you’re losing horsepower when the boost falls off by redline.

personally it annoys the **** out of me, and think of the power your loosing, thats 1k-2k rpms of usable powerband made weak by an inadequate turbo.

If he's only running 20lbs it should still hold to redine. I have a FP3052 (GT30R) right now on my 2.4L DSM. It holds 25lbs to redline, the 3071R should still be large enough to keep up at 20lbs. It would not be my personal choice, but then again neither is the 3052.

OK, I guess thats why they make gt40's...But then again you'll be losing down low and I'll be long gone.

yeah but with the 3071 he'll be spooling around about the same time as you, and make more power from there on out and be able to hold that power to redline.

1000cc. the 3076 can max out the 720s in certain tunes, say 110 octane.
