I had the dilemma of choosing the d-core or the RPS carbon - and after MUCH thought and head scratching i finally ordered the RPS - Hope I made the right move.......

Still some rattle and noise, Could you describe more detailed?

I read many many posts about RPS and Exedy and I can't decide which one to go...
Sorry but I don't know of anybody in Sweden running an RPS so I cant compare them. Only thing I can say is that it's very drivable, pedal effort is very light. The noise I heard was when standing still and disengaging the clutch, like a normal Exedy twin but with a slightly less metallic sound, I guess due to the carbon material?

MattGold - My friend will go for a “stage 1” later this summer, 3” exhaust and an ECUTEK flash, still not that much power and I guess a twin D-Core would have absolutely no problem what so ever to handle it.

does this hold the same amount of torque like the normal twin plates?

FYI... Evan over at Exedy said he doesn't recommend carbon clutches for street use. I would suggest a MM022SD or a stage 2. So if street is the primary home for your car, the carbon is not your best choice.

yea but what other clutch are you supposed to run if you have a street driven car with high power. Most clutches that are "street clutches" can only hold 350whp at most. So for the people running 450whp+ daily we need a clutch that can hold that power. I'm usually fine warming the clutch up before doing some hard pulls, it's not like im goign to be pushing my car at the max when it's cold and just started up.

That is not necessarily true. John Shepherd ran 8's with a DSM street clutch that is considerably smaller than the EVO clutch and I am pretty sure he was making more power than that (like double). I can't speak for "most" but as far as ACT street clutches are concerned, they will provide a lot of torque capacity. Our XTSS kit is rated at about 580 ftlbs of torque. I think that would more than suffice for most EVO's, don't you? The problem is that street clutches are more limited on what heat (translate=abuse) they can handle compared to our race clutch. If you like to ride the clutch out of the hole, then it is going to be brutal on the organic friction material and once the material is hot it holds less power until it has the chance to cool down. If you run the stock restrictor in the hydraulics and drag race, you are going to be hard on a street clutch since the restrictor insures that the clutch doesn't lock up very fast. A cerametallic material such as what is used on our race disc or an Exedy Twin for instance will take the heat better but has some tradeoffs with driveability.

The Exedy MM022SD twin plate is rated for 500-750bhp. Are you putting out 450whp? Even if you do, this clutch should be fine for your use, according to what Evan told me.

yes my car just makes 450whp on 104 octane which i daily drive on. I have the ceremetallic exedy twin plate in my wrx w/ sti 6 speed and it holds fine for a bit but once I am driving the car pull after pull like on back roads or a road course it will start to feel a little mushy and not hold quite as strong as before i started beating on the car. I can daily drive the car with the clutch as I am pretty used to it but it's not where near as smooth as an organic clutch.
