compression test

anyone ever perform a compression test on their evo? how does one go about doing this? i actually had one done already and everything was fine but i was just curious how it works? what part of the engine do you read the compression from and how? do you go through one of the spark plug ports or something?

thx in advance.. and yes, i'm a newb

basically you stick a tire pressure gauge in your exhaust pipe and rev the car to 9000 rpm, so you will have to disable your rev limiter to do it... you want to get about 40psi or your bearing are shot...

JK, okay basically all you do is remove the spark plugs put the special compression guage into the hole were the spark plug went, it will thread in, and crank the engine about 3-5 times, this will give you a reading on how much compression is in that cylinder, then do the same thing to all the other cylinders make sure you have a battery jumper box on the battery becuase since your cranking the engine the more power you take from the battery it could effect the results of the test...

Edit: dont forget to disable the ignitoin so the car doesnt start....

I remember reading somewhere on evom that the cam position sensor plug has to be removed so that the fuel injector will be disabled?
