Upgrade to ATP GT35R?

I have the ATP GT3071R Turbo kit now for almost a yr...and really love it...I am just fiending even more power

I'm going to AMS next month for a built short block plus meth injection and a tune....

But since I am an atp customer, I have the option of buying the ATP GT35R turbo only for a discounted price because i am a customer... $1150...all i gotta do is swap my wastegate from my 3071r.

Is it worth the upgrade? good price?

And please dont suggest the AMS or other kits.... I can ONLY wish I can afford that kit. Like I said..the kit is all there..all i would do is swap for the bigger turbo

Well, I am building the bottom end to make it stronger... 4k to build the bottom end and a meth kit... then spend another another 4k on a different turbo kit? thats 8k! I already have a full turbo kit..just wanna swap the turbo for a mere $1150. Not looking to spend 4k when a new full kit is not needed Hope I made sense.. I have a habit of being a "marble mouth" on the internet..thanks for the input!

Well, you could always SELL that atp kit.

but, i dunno about upgrading...haven't heard great things about ATP kits. i would cut your losses and sell what you got, and buy the ams kit!

but thats just me, its a lot easier to spend your money than to spend my money!

+1 on selling the ATP kit and going another route. ATP is cheap for a reason

I say go for the upgrade bro. Im sure AMS can make it shine with the motor build and meth kit.

Those are good points..although...I have been lucky with ATP. And selling my kit now would have me have to tear apart my current setup, and loosing major money on it..not to mention the downtime on my daily driver.. I am happy with my atp..just looking to upgrade on my current setup. I guess my major question is... is $1150 a GOOD price for the turbo? And I make good numbers with my atp as it is. Just looking for a simple bolt up on my current setup

I would like nothing more to buy the AMS kit..trust me..but either way, it would still cost an arm and a leg.... and I'm already limping

Thanks guys!

First question I have is why are you building the bottom end? Do you want to rev higher or just for peace of mind?

Unless you are reving the hell out of the motor, I would leave the bottom end alone & keep the current turbo & get the meth kit and see how you like it.

If you want to rev the motor past 8,000rpm, then I would get a built bottom end.

Your current turbo with a stock bottom end is fine. I would only recommend a built bottom end with the ATP kit & a 35R, as you need the extra rpms due to lag on the street to have a decent power band.

Now if you put in a stroker kit, you could spool the 35R quicker, but the ATP kit might still be laggy, I'm not too sure.

In the end, it really depends what you want the car for. Street, drag, track. If you want to keep it as a daily driver, I would keep the current turbo and go only for the meth kit. You really don't need a built bottom end, unless you have a bad tune or pistons....

Just my $.02 cents....

Yea...peace of mind...and NOW that I have a little extra money... I wanna get the motor built..since In the near future, I am deffinetly going to be pushing the limits of my engine..and yes..a higher RPM is in the near plans with my retune after my build

My car is strictly daily driven...but want the most out of my evo..and for the future to come

Thanks for your input brotha!

If you were local, (Cali) I would sell you my ATP gt35r turbo for $ 600.00
It has been stitting in a box for 8 mos. Almost no boost in 1st gear. Hit like a mother at 5k in 4th, but of not much practical use . I did derive some small pleasure driving slowly down a street and resetting car alarms. My 2 cents, learn from the mistakes of others. Enjoy car while saving money for AMS kit.
