Is it my throwout bearing or my pressure plate?
at 9 pm last night which was about 7 hours ago, i came to a stop behind an f-150 when i went back into first gear and let off my exedy twin clutch, i heard a horrible high pitch scream coming from my clutch assembly. i asked some master tech that one of my friends know and his first instinct was the throwout bearing. but later on he said it could be the pressure plate. now when i get off first, it screams unless i push the gas only when i get right at the release point. i have had the clutch for just over 7 months now with no hard launches in the car. i have 60k miles on the car and it is the factory throwout bearing that has never been changed. my release point is getting higher and higher farther down the road. and it gets harder to get off from a start. anyone that either had the same problem or knows whats going on or has the slight chance in knowing what it could be, please post asap. thanks
My 04 only has 4K miles on it and I sometimes hear the same sound. Only when downshifting into 2nd, never any other gear. It seems to do this after it has been raining for a day or so. Never in the heat. So I think water might somehow be getting into mine. Does yours do it all the time?
when you give it gas do your rpms go up with out the car moving, then the clutch slowly starts to grab and move you? if so, it is your pressure plate. that happened to me about 3weeks ago at the track. got a new ACT 2600 clutch in and worked great, till my TC and transmission started going out!
when i get off first it feels like the clutch is slipping a lot more. and the release point is definitly getting higher the clutch almost feels stock again( in reference to the release point). the thing that troubles me is that it still grabs like a champ in every gear besides 1st. i would think that if it was the pressure plate then it would make noises or give me some sort of sign in the other gears as well. i have blown out a tc before and i feel your pain dear regards..lol. tranny never had a problem. i know that it was going to go out soon if it was my throwout, but it has lasted over 4 clutches now. yes 4 clutches i have a lot of miles. money wise, i am hoping that it is the throwout bearing, not the pressure plate. cause god knows that a new clutch will render me broke.lol anyone else with an opinion. and thanks for the replies and for all the help.
looks like the pressure plate or the flywheel is almost going or baring out to the bottom.
just by the slipping and the clutch adjusting itself to way up.
TOB would make a noise similar to that, but it would be more of a low bass sounding and it usually sounds only when you have the clutch in.

thats the thing, it only makes a noise when my clutch is in now. before this, i would get the knocking noise before i put the clutch in, now when i put the clutch in thats when it starts to make a noise. and let me redescribe that noise its more of a horrible grind than a scream. so i have no idea. it feels to me like the tob, but i want a more informed opinion than my own. thank you everyone keep on posting up.
