how tight on ARP headstuds??

the back of this ARP box is confusing me.... it says to use it's special oil stuff and you tighten it to some other spec to meet stock specifications?? I'm not followin' the chart here... What did everyone do on the install on these studs? Just stock torque? Or did you try to figure out that chart??

between 75 to 85 ft/lbs. Most go 75 first time and then retq to around 80 after a heat cycle.

where do you guys get the info that this is what you are supposed to do? I can understand that things change and you may want to retorque... but why are you picking a low torque and then raising it... why not just torque it correctly and then check it in a couple days??

Something called torque/heat cycle. Just following the bandwagon which seems to have no issue so far

We followed Mitsu service manual specs for the ARP studs.

I believe it said to 59 lbs then to loosen them back to 15lbs followed by 90 degree turn than another 90 degree. Following this felt stiff hard.

Anyone else?

No that is absolutely incorrect. Stock bolts are torque to yield. DO NOT use stock bolt specs as they work nothing like studs.. Use the supplied moly lube on the threads and nuts/washers. Torque to 70-80ft-lbs. Personally I torqued mine to 70 then 80 then 85, then 87ft-lbs.

I better check the torques on those studs!

Any required bolt sequence in tightening them?

Looks like you need to do a search.

The torque cycle you mention is a big NO! NO! for the one-by-one method and you're better off leaving the stock ones alone. Only reason I did mine was because I'm going with the alky kit.

I go OE torque until they are all replaced... then 70, 80, 85 ft lbs.
