cutch disk/pressure plate question

Well my question is... I have a aftermarket exedy 4 puck clutch and pressure plate.....my question is when this clutch disk goes do i have to replace with another exedy 4 puck disk or can i use a act disk or others with that plate?? Reason being my clutch makes this obnoxious groan/barking sound somtimes when i go to take off im starting to worry about it. (the sound is hard to explain) doesnt do it ALL the time but quite often any info would be nice thanks nick

Ps.. how hard is it to do yourself i have acces to a lift at work jest never did a AWD clutch...or how much to most shops charge around ballpark figure thanks again

You could replace just the disc provided the replacement disk was also designed to work in conjuction with your pressure plate (and the PP itself is still in good shape). Generally, they are replaced together along with the throwout bearing to limit the probability the older parts will fail before the new ones are worn. If you don't mind the time/money/labor involved with the job itself, this may not be an issue. Shop charges vary quite a bit. (I've heard anywhere from $200-$1200 with most falling right around the middle of that range.)

Mine was 500 for the install, and you don't have to replace it, but you are gonna have irregular wear interchanging new and old parts. You should just replace everything at once, being the labor to get up under there is soooooo damn expensive.
