Unhappy HKS EVC boosting issues??

This past weekend I was tuned with my Evc at 22 psi ala Mark from TT, and when I went for a test drive the car would only boost 17 psi. Mark guranteed it was hitting a little over 1.5 bar on my boost gauge when he tuned it / set the evc.

Me and Paul from TT went out in the car again and played with the evc, and the best boost we could get with a value of 100 was 22.5 psi. This is nowhere near normal, and the boost controller is maxed out making this boost. All ic pipes / vacuum tube lines were checked and tightened with no leaks.

Has anyone else had similar issues with an ebc? I fear it is the stepping motor going out... Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Ben

Did you test it for a boost leak or just tighten the hoses here and there?

What do your filters look like on the EVC? How old is it?
Is the stepper motor installed with the ports up?
What is your gain/offset set to?

Josh (mistuorder), myself, and 4 precision R employees went all over any possible boost leak areas. All clamps / zip ties were fine and tight. I'm only running 1 of the little filters on the evc and it is brandnew. The evc itself was bought used from a evom member. The ports are facing upward. All of the settings other than boost are at what it runs after being reset. It has been set for internal wastegate.

Thanks,
Ben

Yeah, I read them over as well. Installation is definatley not the issue. Can the little filters cause something like this? Or could it possibly be bov related (aps)? I just hope it isn't the stepping motor .

BOV or I'd be looking at the wastegate.
Filters protect the components from debris. They just can't be restricted.

Tried the bov swap and it had no effect. Maybe the offset needs to be lowered . The Wr might be alittle different then the stock turbo settings. I'm going to lower it some and see what happens.

Thats a great boost controller. Make sure you set it for internal wastegate. Also make sure that you offset in the proper direction. You can get a manual here if you do a search. I reset mine the other day and it at 94, and it boost all the way to 23psi. It holds it. Dont look at the peak boost, you know the numbers above the electronuc boost guage. I usually find a nice empty road and go WOT in fourth gear to see what psi I am at.

Your offset is at 94, or was your boost setting at 94?

I lowered the offset and it did nothing... There is no reason I should have my boost value in the 90's to reach 22-23 psi. I was under the impression that I could reach 20psi in the 60's.
I'm trying to borrow a mbc from a friend to see if it is the evc stepping motor, or if it's the wastegate on my turbo.

HKS EVC V

Offset at 90% and 50 on the boost control setting you would be hitting 19 PSI that's on the digital gauge but if you're using another boost gauge it would appear ±1 PSI more.

If you raise the boost setting to 54-56 you would be hitting around 21-22 PSI with 90% offset.
