Need help please!

Ok, I had posted a while back about a problem I am having with my car and had gotten a few suggestions so tried them but nothing has worked so far.

Symptoms: When the problem is acting up, when you accelerate, the car does not put out full power - feels like you are running without the turbo. When it does this, if i let off the gas, then hit it again real hard sometimes the full power will come through.

It feels almost like its a fuel delivery problem, but what is wierd is that it is random. sometimes I can accelerate and it will boost just fine and pull nice and hard. Then I will accelerate again and it will just drag... you will hear the turbo spooling but the car is doing nothing.

What I have done so far:
replaced the fuel pump and spark plugs (stock plugs), checked for intake leaks, replaced the bov with another stock one.

Mods: just the new fuel pump.

The car is not throwing any CEL codes, and I have tried resetting the CPU. I do think the car is running lean - before this happened if I were to launch it you would see just a bit of smoke come out the tailpipe from running rich... not anymore.

Any help anyone can give will be appreciated.

Do you have a fuel controller, i.e. SAFC etc, installed? It could be possible that your computer is pulling your timing....

Oops.... Your only mod is the fuel pump.

Do you have access to a handheld scanner so you can monitor your timimg? A Snap-on, or Matco handheld borrowed from a friend would be very helpful for this.

no SAFC or any kind of fuel management. The car is completely stock except for the fuel pump (and it was doing this before I put int he pump)

That depends on what is causing the timing to be pulled.... It could be excessive engine knock due to pre-ignition that is caused by too lean of a mixture, or too much boost, etc... If you are not hitting fuel cut, and truly have no leaks anywhere in the intercooler piping, and know that the BOV is good, I would look for timing being pulled first, and go from there.

The only thing that worries me is that this was happening before any changes were made to the car at all....
