go with fidanza, I dont like chromoly flywheels because it seems you can have the same problems as people do with stock ones, not resurfaceable. With fidanza the friction plate is replaceable so you just unbolt it and bolt a new plate on and your good to go.
I run ACT and Fidanza in my evo and love the combination

stock flywheel is resurfaceable......so are chromoly ones

unless you have totally MANGLED your stocker...which I have yet to see, there is no reason a machine shop that knows what they are doing cannot resurface it. And, Evo's, dont have the step to worry about like the DSM's did, so its a no brainer

What he said, and I have some pretty cooked EVO flywheels that machined just fine.

I don't know about the Evo, but on a 1G AWD DSM the ACT flywheel made a huge difference in drivability and low RPM response for me, very happy with it. Should be the same for the EVO, I highly recommend it. Hopefully someone can confirm this on the EVO.

My clutch went so I just replaced it with ACT. Same flywheel not shaved or nothing. No chatter no problems.

I was just looking at the prototypes today. Our first production run should be ready in about 2-3 months. Sorry it has taken so long. They will be available in two weights, 10 and 13 lbs with most of the material taken from the outside perimeter where it matters most. Of course they are forged chromoly, heat treated, one peice, with hardened ring gear, computer balanced, SFI certified, blah, blah, sales pitch over. I can take a couple photos tomorrow if you like.

Thats great! I have about 16000 on my stocker and it is just starting to chatter on normal take-off. When I need the new clutch sounds like you guys will have the flywheel ready.......

Some people claim that the stock flywheel can not be resurfaced....they are wrong??

They don't know what they are talking about. Since it is not grey iron like most flywheels it may take a different grade wheel than what they usually use, but if they have a general cutting grade, the stone should cut fine. We do it all the time. And with the EVO flywheel there is less chance of cracking than most flywheels and they even less chance of catastrophic failure since they are not grey iron.
