anyone know where to get a short 5 speed box...?

the one that was used on the evo 6 RS450 cars?
or what can be bought to get it shorter

Not a direct answer, but have you considered the 6spd?

 

or call shepard or tre transmissions.

 

I'm not sure you can get any shorter gearing in the 5 speed gearbox. The final drive gearset already has a very small pinion gear, I'm not sure if there's room physically for the drive gear to get larger.

for drag racing etc?

cuz i know most of the 10sec evos run off the 5spd box..is there a reason for this?

 

just run smaller wheel tire combo.....that will change your ratio.

 

I don't think anyone knows yet. The fastest MRs on the MR board are in the 12.2s, because we don't have enough power to make good use of 5th gear (4th maxes at 111-112). The 6spd is beefy, but comparing ~300whp to ~600whp would be of little use.

I think the 10s Evos run 5spds, because that's what they came with? I know they get rebuilt shep/TRE trannies, but I'm not sure those shops have looked into beefing up a 6spd yet...maybe talk to them?
