Unhappy My evo is boostin early with Hallman manual boost controller

I just recently installed my Hallman manual boost controller and I'm currently running 20 lbs, my boost usually kicks in about 3,200 or 3,500 Rpm some where around there and now my boost kicks in at 2,900 or 3,000 Rpm, I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my car like a boost leak or something? Can someone let me know something? My mods are 3" Helix downpipe, 3" megan racing hi flow cat, 3" megan racing full exhaust, Aem short ram intake, Hks Bov.

A boost controller helps bring boost on earlier by manipulating the vacuum to the wastegate. It's better!

First of all. With the modifications in your signature,
is a/f tuned properly.

Also, you might want to double check your MBC installation and hook-up.
There is lots of information on this forum and other Evo forums about
MBC's.

such hatred these days.... Damn you don't have to bash the poor guy... This is probably the first turbo car he has owned much less with a boost controller.
Ok let me try to explain this to you... Your car was boosting pretty good Stock.. You add the exhaust and intake= loose a couple psi, but yopu don't notice it from the power adition. Now with the MBC you have added the boost the car wants. And also with a boost controller the Boost will come on much quicker and last longer..... Spooling to full boost at higher RPM's is called turbo lag= not good for power. the sooner to full boost the better.
Have fun.... its a good thing.

Man - the guy asked an honest question.

An MBC works by creating a leak in between the boost signal and the wastegate actuator. It tricks the actuator into thinking the car is not making boost, by bleeding off the boost signal.

The reason the car is making boost earlier is because by installing the MBC, you have tricked it into thinking it's not making boost. The wastegate stays closed longer becuase the actuator doesn't see the signal. It's being bled off by the MBC.

Be careful! Make sure you're not running lean. You could melt pistons in a hurry. If you don't have an A/F gauge installed do so.
