Nitrious intercooler sprayer
Nitrious intercooler sprayer
I was having a discussion about nitrous with my friend who has a sprayed Z-28. He mentioned he had a friend with a turbo civic who has a nitrous sprayer that attached to his intercooler and has several jets that spritz the surface. Has anyone ever heard of this or know if it makes a difference.

yep they make them. don't waste your money. the idea behind it is it rapidly cooling down your intercooler therefore cooling down your intake charge. dave buschur proved that there was little to gain from this setup. the gains that he noted were from the nitrous being sucked into the intake giving the car a little nitrous boost. you might as well just install a wet kit and spray it the right way.
i have one on my buschar fmic, i live in al so the hot humid air sucks. so i do see a difference with the inter-cooler sprayer, just hit the button a couple times and i can hold 24 pounds of boost but with out it i'll hit 23 and tapper off.

Don't waste your money.. Only gains anyone has seen from a Nitrous intercooler sprayer is from the lack of airflow across the intercooler on the dyno. For example on most dyno's there is only a tiny fan blowing across the intercooler core. At best the wind speed hiting it is 10mph, now this is hardly enough to cool the intercooler properly. So of course you will see a gain on the dyno when hitting the intercooler with -100c gas. But all this changes in real life when your actually driving. Now say your driving down the freeway at about 70mph, your getting plenty of airflow across the intercooler core. You are also getting alot of airflow on the front of the car.. so much to a point where the nitrous you spray has no direct effect on the intercooler. The large amount of air on the nose of the car actually redirects the nitrous away from the intercooler allowing for little or no gains.
Clif Notes: If the intercooler sprayer made so much more power... wouldn't you expect to see this item on pro-drag cars?
