Because everyone with them is out driving.

Seriously, the HKS 280s (and to some extent the 272s) are streetable with proper tuning, and IMO are best suited to cars with a wealth of mods that allow the cams' potential to be extracted. They certainly aren't for everyone. If you're serious about performance upgrades, ECU upgrades, and dyno tuning, and are considering a turbo upgrade, they are a worthwhile option.

Otherwise, a different cam set (e.g. 264s or a 264/272 split) will work a bit better for stop and go traffic.

Thanks for the reply, yea i was aware of the rest of the cam line up but it seems though not many go all out and get the 280's

I did and LOVE them to death. I have had no problems with streetability and have great torque and hp throughout the entire band. Its all about the tune, also like Ted said, if you're going to upgrade turbos these are a great mod to already have under your belt.

ya well no point if going to have stock turbo for a while. i would do like 272/264 with stock turbo and then if like port turbo and head and this and that then i would say 272. but i seen people with 272/264 and wow they are nice. and when people with 272/272 with stock **** not as good why becasue there no need for them till more upgrades as for as turbo and so on. anyhow thats my 2 cents. and 280 is for all out racing. thats like drag only lol. deff not fun for street.

buschur made 15 more whp and 8 more tq with 280's over 272's without tuning. After tuning he made something like 24 more whp and 14 more tq. He said no low end power was lost.

for another 20 whp and 14 more lbs of tq on the stock turbo, i'll be happy with my 280's. I'll have 280's, meth injection on my 05 evo very soon with a new reflash at TT. I'll post updates after.

Good stuff, I'd just go with the 272's though 280's a lil too crazy for me lol. I have a question though, don't mean to thread jack though lol, as I'm sure Late Apex would like to know the answer to this also. So are people making more power with the 272/264 setup or straight 272's ?

I also have the 280s, no problems driving 30 miles in stop and go traffic everyday. I would not trade them for any other combination. Just about everyone I know with 272's has changed over to 280's, and we all have stock turbo.
