ok, 2 things.

1st, 209whp on a dynodynamics is about average for a stock 03....so you aren't really hurting there....those dynos do NOT read as high as dynojets...so don't worry about the number.

2nd, i guarantee you that the person you bought the car from had a boost controller on there and when they replaced the hoses, they didn't use a hose with a pill in it. There is a pill in the factory vac hose that runs from the compressor to the "T". See if there is a pill down there...id bet there isn't.

In the latest issue of dsport or some other mag, they tested the k&n typhoon intake on an 05 MR. It was pretty much stock except for maybe a catback or turboback. The typhoon made right around 10whp without tuning... Take it for what it's worth, but someone managed to make good power out of it. This is not to say people haven't had a lot of trouble with this intake in the past, but some people can make real good power out of it.

i love reading magazines and enjoy the articles a lot, but using their performance pages is tough knowing that the write-ups they are writing, are for people that may be sponsoring them or giving them freebies and stuff.

The manual boost controllers sold here can be used on virtually ANY turbo vehicle, both single and dual turbo. Obtain one of our boost controllers to see for yourself how you can unlock the potential of your turbo, achieve faster turbo spool-up, and discover significant horsepower gains.

k so there is no real problem with the k&n? just some people had issues drawing hp from it? cuz ill be honest my car doesnt seem faster to me with the typhoon in it... just much louder...

does that pill your referring to give you horsepower or something? or is it just to show me the that the previous owner was running a boost controller on it.

i was hoping i could find the person who previously owned my car... has anybody traded in a 03 evo weightless white (had like 18000 to 19000 miles) that had red samco hoses on it for a 05 mr at huntington beach mitsu? i bet you they are on evolutionm.net. i just have some questions for them about what they did to the car previously.

thats about what the car puts out with that boost, mine stock peaked at 16.8 and did a 200 hp. 2nd run hit 17and did 211hp. The stock ecu has alot of control, if it doesn't meet the parameters it needs to allow full boost, thats what you'll see. Thats why MBC is the next choice for controlling boost.

that pill we are talking about allows the car the run the right amount of boost. Instead of buying a new line with pill from mitsu, id spend 100 bucks on a Manual boost controller and turn the boost up to about 21psi.....you'll be happy then.

kind of stupid question, but I don't think anyone asked it. . .
IS THE CAR TUNED? SHOULDN'T YOU HAVE IT FLASHED IF YOU HAVE AN INTAKE?

I'm new here, but it sounds like that an open air intake+flash go hand in hand. . . .or you use the STOCK box with a WORKS hi-flow air filter. . . .

Furthermore, if you've got a BOV, it should be tuned ever more. . . if it was tuned, than maybe get a better tune. . . .

Yes, with an open-element intake, but No on the BOV. Anyway, tuning or no tuning, that doesn't have anything to do with his boost levels or lack thereof.

I HAPPILY allow Mitsu to do all of my FREE maintenance/service, but I also remove my s-afc/bov/mbc like you mentioned.
