Bearing Cap Removal
hi all,
started to replace my cams with GSC's 272/264's. following the evomoto instructions... the install has been going pretty good until the point where you remove the bearing caps on the cams. on my exhaust cam all 6 caps are stuborn and don't want to come off. 2kmi on motor.
what's the best way to crack these loose..?
evo moto mentions to put a breaker bar across the head and a crow bar to pry up the cams. is there another way...? i've tried this up to a point. i don't want to crack or deform the casting as it seems like a lot of force to even get it to budge.
tried tapping the caps with a rubber mallet but, no good. any ideas?
tia.

Stubborn ehh...
Need more leverage. Grab a couple of phillips screwdrivers and put in the bolt holes and try it again. Back and forth, side to side . Don't go in to deep into the threads though.
When I did mine I just put a pry bar under the camshaft and pryed it againts the head where the valve cover sits. Do it slowly though. You don't want those caps flying everywhere when that thing pops out.
Good luck . Let me know how it went.
